AUSTRALIAN EMBASSY -
DONATION OF A HYDRAFORM BRICK-MAKING MACHINE
WILD was extremely grateful to recieve a US$ 41,000 donation from the Australian Embassy in Harare to purchase a Hydraform brick-making machine which produces high-quality, environmentally friendly bricks right at the building site.
This machine is invaluable for the various infrastructure developments that are getting underway in the project sites - from scout and ranger accommodation and patrol bases to Conservancy headquarters, workshop facilities, tourism camps, environmental education centres as well as developments within the communities themselves - such as Community Livestock Centres, Clinic & School upgrades and much more besides.
The machine was delivered first to Mahenye to produce building blocks for the Jamanda Community Conservancy for the next 8 weeks or so before moving across to Naivasha.
At a recent Community Meeting, the Mahenye Community & District Authorities expressed their sincere gratitude for the use of this machine in the development of their community infrastructure & wildlife conservancy.
LANDMARK COMMUNITY MEETINGS IN NAIVASHA AND JAMANDA COMMUNITY CONSERVANCIES
September 2015 has been a watershed month for the WILD Programme with truly momentous community meetings in both Naivasha and Jamanda Conservancies where all stakeholders - from beneficiary communities, traditional leadership, the Chiefs and local governement authorities all throwing their weight behind WILD. The leadership and messages from Chief Sengwe and Chief Mahenye as well as from the respective local authorities in Chiredzi and Chipinge Districts was incredibly strong and positive - resonating strongly with the will of the beneficiary communities, which bodes really well for the strength of WILD as we move into a phase of intense infrastructure development.
